Due to laws and regulations we are not allowed to have volunteers, and we don't make enough money to employ others. However, we can have interns. :-) So if you want to learn a little about farming, even if it is only for a day, contact me:

New Beginnings Organic Farm has a 4.5 acre fruit orchard with about 345 trees. This is strictly an agricultural farm, sorry no animals. As a solo female, I take care of the orchard while my husband, who is disabled, takes care of all my equipment and is good with coming up with ideas for dealing with problems. We try to keep things in perspective and have fun. There will always be something to do, but no one gets hurt if something does not get done, or maybe it was not done right. This foreclosed property that we brought back to life, is now giving back to others and with your help we might be able to do more.
Do you have free time, love to work outdoors, and can work independently with a little direction? Do you want to learn to drive a tractor, use a nut walker, set a gopher trap, rake, prune, or thin fruit? These are daily tasks and more. You choose the task that feels right for you. Our hope is you will take away some new learnings, have some new experiences, and have a great time in the process. We hope you leave with a better understanding of organic practices, get to experience the high quality of fruits we produce, and gain a greater appreciation for all that farming offers.
Only requirements are you wear good enclosed shoes, sign and adhere to our food safety guidelines, and enjoy. A hat and gloves are necessary, but I have extras if needed. There are no domestic animals allowed in the orchard for food safety reasons, so please, no pets. Feel free, however, to bring an adult friend to share in the fun.
"Agriculture is the most healthful, most useful, and most noble employment of man."
